Self-consciousness is by its very definition self-centered. Instead of focusing inward, shift it outward to things that bring you confidence and happiness rather than insecurity or misery. Create an attitude of gratitude for all those things you do have, and all the people around you. Rather than judging yourself by the standards of someone else, celebrate their successes that really don’t reflect on you one way or the other. Sincerely compliment others, spread positivity and reach out to help those in need. By doing so you will build your self-confidence by learning how valuable you are just for being you.
